Something to say

Words surround us in todays world. Texting, emails, blogging - there is so much to take in.  Almost two years ago a life coach (BB) recommended to me that I save a folder of my own writing and begin to share it.  BB felt I have something to say.

The truth is I have alot to say, but have felt writers block when it comes to putting it out there via blogging.   Instead of blogging,  Providence has called me to a lot of speaking opportunities out in public and in a lot of venues the past few years. What I have to say has been said by bravely asserting myself in a variety of arenas that call forth using my voice; when in previous years I would have kept quiet or been too timid to speak openly.

To my surprise a dear friend recently said she did not know that I have written lots of poetry.  She only knew of one or two poems I have written.  It occurred to me that a few persons do know I am a writer, but not as many as I may think.  As others all around me in the blogging world hone their writing craft and say such poignant things, I find myself in awe of all they have to say and feeling a bit stifled.

Whenever I submit writing in a degree program  that I am working on, I always pull an "A".  Recently a different instructor graded a piece of my writing and there was a comment to work on my writing style (yet she gave me an "A").  I have been wondering about that comment ever since. There are so many writing styles. What does one do with a comment like that?  Practice a friend tells me.  Do it daily another says. Yet my life is often so full and time for blogging does not feel easily found.

Most recently my writing is expressing itself through short homilies that I have been honored to give at three different churches. The feedback and heartfelt appreciation after several of those presentations reminds me I do have "something to say".  Perhaps it is just not meant yet to flow to the blog world.  Thank you to you bloggers who do such a fine creative job at sharing your wisdom and your craft.  I'm observing you and listening with an open mind and heart.   Meanwhile, I do have "something to say"... as a new licensed lay preacher of my denomination. Come hear words I feel called to say and share-- once a month -- bright & early -- at the  7 a.m. at midweek services at St. Mary Episcopal Church, Anchorage AK.

  1. Yes, you do have something to say and as the name of one of the blogs I follow proclaims:
BE YOURSELF, EVERYONE ELSE IS TAKEN.
    See you soon.
