Laughter, In-Laws and Out-Laws

Today I find myself feeling like a stranger to a land I once called home. 26 years ago the Ozarks was a place where I was known, had many friends, lived and loved. It has grown and evolved... So have I...  Friends have faded away and did not stay in touch.  The town has doubled in size.  The only people who know me now are my in-laws (i.e my husbands family).

Today while taking a walk and just enjoying peace & quiet, I reflected on how a life, a place and people can all change so much.  And, its all good.  It is just the way it is supposed to be.  Deeper than that awareness is the pleasure I am experiencing instead of apprehension as I spend time amongst in-laws, whom I am so very different from.  Most are non-church goers and their way of life does not find value in spirituality the way I do.  So sometimes I feel I am an "outlaw" in this family I married into 26 years ago.  Yet, laughter is a common balm that melts a lot of the sensation of being different.  And I have done a lot of laughing the past five days :) .

I can't help but sum up the experience of me -- being here in the Ozarks --- any other way than to say just click on this link and enjoy a fun song... one that I love!  but a bit different than you might suspect I would like:  "God is great, beer is good and people are crazy"...   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqrogegV1lw

Certainly it has a spirituality to it ... don't ya think?
